Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Auburn Hills, MI

40,000 ft2 data center building #1, 55,000 ft2 data center building #2. Worked in the Network and on the Help Desk. Responsible for the U.P.S. Systems and battery maintenance, cooling of CPUs and all other equipment. Coordinated vendors to install and service these items. Designed a "Glare Free" lighting scheme in the control room.

Affiliated Computer Services, Dearborn MI

23,000 ft2 data center. Managed engineering for computer room equipment growth and ongoing maintenance. Provided daily support for facilities personnel to ensure 100% up time for computer support systems. Worked with technology planning to ensure facilities will support all computer growth scenarios. Worked with a design build company to complete two building additions without interruption to any customers. Responsible for all U.P.S. Systems and building power. Migrated computer loads from a single U.P.S. module to a multi module U.P.S. System without interruption. Designed and coordinated implementation of cooling Loop II. Researched and implemented change over from absorption chiller to a State of the Art variable speed centrifugal chiller.

Knowledgeware Corp., Atlanta, Ga.

Acted as consultant for layout of data center air-handling units (Liebert), Approval of chilled design, and layout of PDU's. Worked with facility personnel for design and layout of all computer systems installed "day one."

ITT Corp. Auburn Hills, MI.

Acted as consultant for layout of Main Frame Computer system and provided power/cooling requirements for it. Insured PDU power tails correctly specified for all computer and support systems.

Magic Line (now called NYCE Corp.) Dearborn, MI.

Provided a complete Data Center for the company. This includes: Assisting Architectural Firm (Ford Land) in the layout of the Data Center proper. Specified: Main Switchboard, UPS System, Battery type and size, A/C units and quantity, (providing for growth) Raised floor and recommended sizing (1000 Sq. Ft.), Backup Generator, Fuel tank size, Automatic Transfer Switch, Moisture barrier concepts, Critical Switchboard, PDU size and quantity, and power tail specifications for all installed equipment.

UUNET Technologies, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

Directed ANS' Network Projects division and worked as the engineering and management liaison to UUNET to plan and engineer the integration of the legacy ANS backbone into the UUNET backbone. Also consulted on planning/engineering network infrastructure into AOL's new data center.

ANS Communications, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

Directed ANS/AOL's Installation Engineering department, with overall project responsibility for the build-out of AOL's dial access network and the supporting network infrastructure. Responsible for co-location planning and engineering, equipment rack integration, network capacity planning, cabinet installation and cabling, network configuration and engineering, circuit provisioning and engineering, and telecommunications vendor management. Also worked with Fortune 500 companies to install end-to-end Internet connectivity.

ANS Communications, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

Worked as project manager and network engineer to deliver an integrated virtual private data network (VPDN) for Trane Corporation to interconnect over 120 field offices via the ANS network backbone.

Merit Network, Inc. and ANS Communications, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

Worked as Network Engineer in the Merit/ANS Internet Engineering group which supported the NSFNET backbone network. Provided on call trouble-shooting support to Network Operations Center for any/all backbone problems, performed network maintenance including hardware, software and circuit installations and upgrades. Worked on team to convert initial NSFNET T1 backbone to T3. Developed an initial training program for Network Operations employees.

Horiba Instruments, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

Specified, installed and managed an on-site research and development data center, lab and LAN. Support and maintenance of an international wide area network that accesses local area networks in Japan, Europe, and the United States. Successfully completed a QOS 9000 T1 certification. Developed the systems and network administration QOS processes, including trouble-ticket systems, storage/backup/archive management, international WAN management, and secure remote access to customer networks.

Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

Office of Financial Services, Lansing, MI

Designed and developed applications and infrastructure to manage the Michigan National Guards' Historical Repository System (HORSE) for tracking personnel history information. Analyzed database server requirements and established administration procedures. Allows for an automated response to inquiries made at the Army, Air, and State personnel offices. If the Army, Air, or State personnel offices update personnel data, the HORSE updates data accordingly. This system links with several existing ODBC databases (Oracle, Informix, and SQL Server) over government WAN, with periodic updates from Army and Air National Guard data. Primarily a data-entry application but contains numerous search, sort and reporting options.
