Data Center Overview

IPM networks will be used to build Storage Area Networks (SAN) that allow for massive data storage. The amount of data that will be needed for emerging imaging technology will be immense. The use of SANs in decentralized locations will be essential for managing this data. IPM decentralized data centers can be used for this purpose. Basic data center components to be provided to tenants, clients and users include:

  • Flexibility of wiring systems for telecommunications and power.
  • Accessible and spacious vertical risers with connection space at each floor level.
  • Accessible and spacious cable tray system for horizontal distribution.
  • Provisions for wireless network facilities following both 802.11A and 802.11B standards.
  • Space for multiple copper and fiber cable feeds to individual locations.
  • Dual (multiple) connections to independent service providers.
  • Dual independent power connections to utility company.
  • Power supplied from independent power grids where feasible.
  • On-site emergency power generation facilities with capacity to feed Data Center and all associated critical facilities/services.
  • UPS System with automatic switchover between utility company and on-site generator.
  • Emergency generator equipment rated for extended continuous use.
  • Data Center and associated areas HVAC systems.
  • Life-safety systems and access control systems.
  • Integrated telecommunications systems.
  • Secure facilities, programmable access control system for individual users, and video monitoring throughout the facility.
  • Capacity to set security access levels for individual users and groups.
  • Capacity to log individual security events.
